Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by Soren

Emptiness where your form stood
A torn coat that once was good
A face that's lost, gone the form
Too soon left, an embrace so warm
Laugh and smile to see no more
Friendship left on a closed door
I never got to say goodbye
'Tis but farewell, a parting sigh

This hits a nerve. I lost a friend...never actually got to say goodbye...although the last time we talked, told her I loved her and vice-versa...at least I have that, and all the memories of our friendship.
This moved me.

The imagery of the torn coat and the empty space where a presence once was makes the absence almost tangible. I love how the poem balances sorrow with quiet reverence, especially in the final lines.. the farewell feels both personal and universal. It reminds us how much weight words like “goodbye” can carry, and how sometimes their silence is the loudest part.
