Where to start

Where to start

A Poem by Soren

To set a footing on a cloud, a sunbeam ladder to the sky
A nest in heaven your goal, why do you set your sights so high
Rock bottom, a solid foundation upon which to build
Not pinned to rainbows or castles in the sky, but sweat spilled
From dirt poor, poured around the corner stone to affirm
Adversity's diversity, solid building blocks, toughness confirm
Between rock and a hard place, cuddled by what is stone rough
Mortar of mixed scabs and blood, stone scars will make your building tough

Your poem reminds me of something my Dad would say, that old saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day. It also reminded me of playing with building bricks when young, with my younger brother. We both learned early, that the foundations had to be solid, otherwise the next layer of bricks wouldn’t hold. It’s good to have ambition, but success takes hard work. It doesn’t just happen. Patience is important and trying your best even more so. Lots to think about in this poem. Nice imagery used.

Thank you so much Chris for the read and understanding it is much appreciated my friend
Soren, I have to say the first stanza made me chuckle a bit.. that image is beautiful and really shows how high and unattainable that goal is. And as with everything else, always start from the bottom and work or even ease your way up. That's how character is built. Through perseverance,
patience and hardwork. Especially when you want to build something to last. One must also be realistic with their dreams, so they don't set themselves up for failure or disappointment. I think it's wise for people to just keep it simple and just do their best.
