A Poem by Soren

Dry twigs with care were placed, where lie sprigs of grass now a waste
Young have left an abandoned nest, a home bereft where snakes do rest
Only feathers where once laid eggs, lonely scale tethers and dried shell dregs
Once a place of joy so dear, now disgrace and a bird's hidden fear

It is strange how dim a cave a home can become when the kids move out. Really strong imagery in this one. ~Jim

I can appreciate how much care it takes into building a nest. A safe place to raise young. Each twig was carefully chosen and placed. To see it abandoned and left to the vipers. It aches of life and loss. This is the sad part of nature that we must accept. Atleast the nest seemed to be well lived in.. and that's what matters. We could always use more empathy and compassion in this world.

Soren, was the spelling of the title intentional? Because I read it as empathy...
