Freedom in chainsA Poem by SorenWild green that lifts my breath below a sky serene so far from home Red mud that clings to my feet brings a feeling of being held back, but so alone A sun warm, dirt roads, on the horizon a coming storm, sky so blue Rolling emerald fields, dripping sweat yields pools of pain missing you No fences only the wind, combed wool clouds thinned, torn between us two Rootless within, tumbleweeds spin, carried on a breeze that blew Star's compass, no needle, soul does wheedle, pointing direction for weary feet A shadow memory lags behind, solace to find, searching for slumber sweet So long the road, thorns of conscience goad a vagabond to carry on Songbirds tweet in hopes to greet an old friend on a distant lawn
