Love your enemies

Love your enemies

A Poem by Soren

I love the dog that bit me, it was not his fault
I forgave a man that hit me, all he knew was assault
I cared for a woman that left me, she was afraid
I miss my child from long ago, stolen in a friendship raid
I long for golden days, robbed by the hands of time
To each thief I leave a loving present, in return for their crime
Some say I'm meek, the rest say weak for what I do and say
But I can sleep, as others in anger weep at the end of day

A small boat cannot endure a storm.
Nor paper the pelting of pebbles.
It's weakness that demands revenge, recompense.
For without it, they cannot do.
Strength is what it takes to brave a storm, and accept loss.
Ah, but another sin here comes, Pride.
And you deftly sidestep that too.
If there's a better way to traverse a difficult, and painful path, I do not know it.
And I only wish I were able to do as you.
