Samba

Samba

A Poem by Soren

Pandeiro of the frogs a leathery beat, in two four time a growing samba in heat
Sultry night a frolic delight, a polite invite a partner to excite, its melody does repeat
Crickets tambourine play, cicadas with ganza in wings sway, fireflies light the lagoon
Dancing under a naked moon, surdo by nightbirds exotic tune carnaval practice in the month of June

The rhythm jumps off the page—sweaty, alive, and impossibly joyful.
I can hear the night breathing samba and feel the frogs keeping perfect time.
