Innocence

Innocence

A Poem by Soren

Was there ever any good or just the rose colored glasses of childhood
The fiery romance of a fairytale, quenched by cold waters when first love did fail
Wishes cast on a shining star now seem lost in time's distance so far
The thrill of Santa night before, evaporated dreams in a grown up's closet to store
The charm of magic taken from one's eyes, now seen as nothing but a hoodwinker's  lies
A child's kneeling belief in God, striped away with innocence's green sod
So with aged eyes defiled, let me again be beguiled seeing with the eyes of a child

I do think there was good, and I think wearing those rose colored glasses was a treat we can never go back and have again, which is sad. WE are now stuck with the realities of life.

Ah the innocence of youth.....:)

I love the way you mix things up here Soren....its like a bitter-sweet reminder of reality

But I love the ending....reminding us to keep the "eyes of a child"

So with aged eyes defiled, let me again be beguiled seeing with the eyes of a child

Thank you so much for your read and most kind words of encouragement they are most appreciated
Beautiful, wistful poetry Soren. We can lose much with the passing of time and the loss of innocence. Once in a while, I have been blessed. My inner child is still tickled. Have a great weekend.
