Greater

Greater

A Poem by Soren

Eyes blinded too close to see how we fit in nature's diversity
A minnow in a large sea, we ask why the shark has to be
A tree that takes nutrients from the ground where once verdant grass was found
Leaves leave too much shade now bare dirt lies where once was emerald glade
Ants fight their genocidal war with enemies who's land it is no more
Wolf old deer does thin, both pack and herd in this do win
A lion kills a child, we kill a calf, which more wild, is one better than the other  half
Humans seek to protect the weak, thinking we are better and unique
With ill fit glasses we fight our fight trying to turn wrongs to right
Are human values all that count all others we can discount
Nature will always be, a far greater force than humanity

Well, if Mr. Darwin was right, our species came out of nature, too. Some of the things we have learned might be beneficial to other emerging groups. (Except for the ant wars. Those suckers play rough.).
