Adrift

Adrift

A Poem by Soren

Once the arm of a tree, by gale broken set free
Drifting on waves of the sea carried by currents I can not see
Exposed to wind and sun not knowing destination or origin
Riding various storms, peeled by waves that appearance transforms
Dropping into troughs and riding crest, as an unnoticed guest
Hollow and empty it floats, wearing seaweed coats
No one to care sink or not, a lone battle fought
Washed up on a distant shore, broken, beat and sore

The imagery is impressive here Soren and the metaphor strong. Your words paint a picture of isolation. Nicely composed visual work.

Very interesting symbolism here. I believe the tree is the Higher Power, the arm a branch of that tree, and its sad fate that of many people. It is a cautionary tale, for this could be any of us.
