Enchou sareta senryu

A Poem by Soren

Two of your children
drowning you can save but one
which one will it be

Could you live in guilt
with such a choice that you made
Could yourself forgive

Knowing that you chose
which would live and which would die
How could you go on

This reminds me a bit of Sophie's Choice, the movie. Brilliant thought-provoking work.

Thanks so much Thomas for the read and comment it is always most appreciated
Hello Soren. You took me back years to something I read about a car that had plunged in a river. The mother was driving, she saved the baby in the passenger seat secured in the child seat. Her ten year old son in the back seat drowned. It played on my mind for days. She saved the one closest to her reach. The devastation is impossible to fathom. She has to live for her living child but the cruelty of the situation is straight out of hell. What a position to find yourself in. What a start to my poetry day. Have a good one.
