Wasps

Wasps

A Poem by Soren

Spring animation birth of creation brothers born
From the rib of a paper crib the young are torn
Baby wasps from the hive now strive a new colony to build
In a swarm a paper house they form, chewed wood mouth milled

Through summer heat a shaded retreat for their young
With paper walls in protected stalls enemies to be stung
In the fall, disaster did call hive torn down from the eave
No time for repair in despair they cling to it and grieve

Relinquishing the nest they find rest on the wall close to my door
They seek no revenge their children to avenge no longer they soar
They cling together through inclement weather in a ball on the wall
In winter cold they loose their hold now homeless one by one they fall
