Mankind

Mankind

A Poem by Soren

War is a bloody business where the pregnant are gutted and babies heads are bashed
Politics is a dirty job where promises are broken and all values are trashed
Betrayal and lies, tools of the trade where throats are cut and deals made
Where the devil is paid and love is put to the butcher's blade
Coming from a generic can, religion of man is murder of his brother
And from a phallic steeple people pay to see a theater rape of their mother
All religious men have a yen for violent entertainment
Interests of any nation justify any application for their attainment
Sow your neighbor's fields with seeds of salt
Tear out his teeth and eye make it God's fault
The old fulfilled, so much blood spilled of self and another
On a lost page it is written, love one's brother

This is intense, confrontational, and deliberately provocative—pushing imagery of violence, religion, and power into stark, uncomfortable territory.
The grit here is in the accusation and reversal, ending on a bitter irony that cuts through the earlier escalation.

Thanks so much Thomas you hit the nail on the head and it is most appreciated
So much for love when the world is driven by religion and politics. Extremism is so dangerous. It just beggar’s belief how man will inflict pain on his so called brother. Wish I could paint the world in soft colours of harmony. Hurts to read.
