Hardening

Hardening

A Poem by Soren

There is a deadness in my bark that hardens with time
Oil burns low, hope goes dark, fate sealed with past grime
A stunted growth gnarled and old filled with living scars
Branches ensnarled, roots grown cold, above unreachable stars

Your poem speaks to me about the aging process Soren. Dark images and loss of hope. Some fine metaphors used in this write. Have a happy Tuesday.

This one appears to be a comment on time and its effects on living things, especially humans. We all eventually have deadness in our bark and branches ensnarled. But we can still lead happy lives.

Thanks so much John for your review and understanding words of interpretation they are most valued
Dear Soren
I believe this is a metaphor for our own aging... "hope goes dark"..branches en-snarled...our bones begin to creak and break and grow other bones...."roots grow old"...our bodies grow cold.. decay over time...and there is no more reaching for the stars...even they have faded because we cannot see them clearly anymore...
Warmly, B

I hope it rains there.... soon it will shoot for stars.. till then let's count the stars... maybe some blockage in the root... if flush out... it will be back to ok state..

A tree. Like the old default picture for this site.

gnarled and ensnarled, that's a good pairing right there, well done.
