Caged

Caged

A Poem by Soulii

Caged
Like a bird does its wings, he relies on his legs
To go to new heights, and far reaches of the Earth.
He must walk.
He must climb.
So it is no surprise--he scream upon the disappearance of his legs
And the opportunity to soar falls upon sheets of blue and white
As they beep.
As they ring.
And masked figures do little to settle confusion and panic
As his shattered perception of the new creeps from beyond his brain.
He thinks deeply.
He thinks nasty.
He stares upon his red eyes in the reflection of a hand mirror
And the darkened glass of a polished mirror. It's not the same as it was.
As he cries.
As he sobs.

Nature gives challenges to those undeserving of such; to change someone's life with an unwanted ailment is something only devastating.
