Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel

A Poem by Steve Paschall

On a cold and rainy deserted street

I'm in a doorway shivering;

The cops ride by and I step back

I need a bed - but not that bad.

An old dog comes, who shares my fate

A being to whom I can relate;

I hold him close, he's wet but warm

Together we'll wait out the storm.

And his reasons will go unknown

As to why he walks these streets alone;

But once I had a leader's role

And trouble I could not control;

I could not cause more hurt and sorrow

So I went looking for a new tomorrow.

A fallen angel has no home

And is left to look for love alone;

It isn't easy but I've found

That love will win the final round,
