Dream

Dream

A Poem by Stacy

DREAM

As I lay in bed, the darkness surrounding me, I reach for you and find you are not there. The bed is not warm where you should be, I sit up and look around the dark room searching for any movement. Everything is quiet and still. I know you have to be somewhere but I hear nothing. As I sit on the bed, pulling the covers closer around me, I wonder if you were ever there or if it was my mind playing a trick on me. I guess I was dreaming of you next to me again, as I so often do, waiting for the day when you are there. The dream was so vivid, I could feel the warmth of your breathe against my skin and the soft touch of your hands on my body. I seem to be having this dream more and more the closer the day comes when we will be together. When I awaken to you not there, I scream inside and wonder why, but there is a reason why things happen the way they do. I only continue to count the days until we are finally together instead of just in a dream.
