Good Friends

Good Friends

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul

Not really sure what this is. Poem... piece... thing... whatever

"

What do they say about me when I'm not around?

“He seems like a great guy, but he's too much that kind of weird”

This is why I hardly ever make a sound

Because all those judging eyes, they fill me up with fear

We could be such good friends

If you'd just start listening

Am I waiting for a train that will never come

Or was I late to the station?

Left behind without even a trace of my dignity

A subtle hope all but remaining

We could be such good friends

If you'd just wait for me

All I want is for someone to be excited

At the prospect of my company

I want to feel like a part of something

Instead I'm drifting through this world like a broken ship lost at sea

I'm looking for something I know I'll never find

But for some reason that still doesn't stop me

All I've ever wanted has been dangled right in front of me

And I grabbed onto it without ever thinking

That it might just slip between my fingertips

But I knew deep down inside

Somehow I knew that none of this was meant for me

But we could be such good friends
