Betrayer of Hope

Betrayer of Hope

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul
"

Based on a character from my favourite book series The Wheel of Time, this is a poem from the point of view of the character Ishamael/Moridin

"

I saw the fire in your eyes

Don't think I didn't notice

When we fought again in the sky

Striking like lightning to those below us

You burned your hands as I fell

The herons marking your fate

You fit the character well

Destined to bleed at death's gate

I was remade in the flames

By my Lord, the Dark One's own hand

Given a new body, new name

Death I am called, I wreak havoc on the land

I stand above those who remain

One step beneath The Great Lord of the Night

You may think that I am insane

But I am not the one who walks in the Light
