Wasted Years

Fifteen years spent
Wasted on loving you
I tried my best
To make it work
I look back and wonder
What went wrong?
Did I ever love you?
Or did I convince myself I loved you?
Now after three years
We've both moved on
With new lives
And someone new
But we still have a son in common
The one common thing to keep us tied forever
A new chance to make life right
And not waste any more time
To get it right
We couldn't get it right together
But hope we can get it right separately
With a brand new start
And a new direction in life
I suppose you will always have a little piece of my heart
But we've moved on
Hopefully for the better
