Chapter 2

It’s been a week since Jonse Ketchum took the reins at Mermaid Publishing. Jaymie and Lydia are on a lunch break discussing their new boss.

“So, what do you think of Mr. Ketchum?” Jaymie asks Lydia after taking a bite of her salad.

“OMG! He’s so hot!” Lydia exclaims, not able to help herself about their boss’ hotness.

“Eh, I can take him or leave him,” Jaymie adds, not wanting to admit she’s just as into him.

“OMG! What is wrong with you?”

“He is just a man, after all.”

“Just a man?” Lydia replies. “He’s the epitome of a Greek god!”

“Oh, Lydia, that’s a bit of a stretch!”

“Well, speak of the devil!” Lydia gives Jaymie a wink to acknowledge that Mr. Ketchum has just walked past their table and takes a seat across from their table.

“I got to get back to the office,” Jaymie tells Lydia as she packs up her bag to pay for her lunch.

“But you haven’t finished your meal.”

“I forgot I haven’t finished up on an assignment back at the office,” Jaymie said before heading up to the counter to pay. Jaymie didn’t want to see their boss in the throes of some woman’s arms. Not when she had unrequited feelings for her boss.
