Sometimes.

Sometimes.

A Chapter by Stephanie Jones

“Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!” Came from my lips as I got hit in the head with something hard, that came at me fast. And I fell backwards.

“Oh my goddddd!!!! Are you alrightttt????” Came from someone standing obviously nearby.

But I couldn’t see anything, everything was blurry from the last sudden impact.

“Jeez, do you need help?” Came from a masculine voice, somewhere distant.

And then someone screamed. And a couple of people gasped. And I had enough of my vision back to realize someone was pointing at me. At me or my face or my head...and then I felt it.

And I also felt the sudden rush of tears flowing down my face. I hit my head hard on the way down, and it didn’t appear to me why it hurt so much until I realized I hit my head on a rock.

“She’s bleeding,” “Someone call 911,” “Can she hear us,” “Is she dead.” And I heard numerous voices being shouted, I had attracted attention. The one thing I was desperatley trying to stay away from. I finally could see things, there were nine or ten teenagers standing around me. And then I heard the scream, the scream I was waiting for, the scream I was desperate to hear, and she brought me back to reality, she made me hear perfectly and see everything. And with that little scream I loved, I jumped up, bleeding head and all, and picked up my sister. It took a few seconds but I calmed her down, but I could still hear everyone else freaking out, not realizing why.

Then I saw the blood, and there was a lot. And then I felt the stickiness of it as it was in my hair down my neck on the cut of my tank top and on the rock. There was a lot. I was loosing a lot. Then I saw the ambulances they were just around the corner but I saw their lights easily. I put my little sister back in her carriage and layed down. As the dizziness came back to me fast.

----------------------------

I felt everything, I felt the movement of people around me, I felt the movement of me from the ground to something oddly softer. I felt the ride to the hospital, with the little bumps every couple of seconds. I felt the lift out of the ambulance and into the emergency room. I felt something nice and soft touch my skin and felt something oozing into me. I felt the numbness, the lifelessness, the need to say deathly feeling. I felt it all, and couldn’t figure out what was happening. The last thing I felt was the numbness, the cold feeling I had, just laying there. And then I had a dream.

It wasn’t like most dreams I had. This one I was alone, and up high in a tree. The sun was setting and the sky was a pinkish purple. It reflected off the water perfectly. There was a tiny breeze, the one that was just right, it tickled your body, making you relaxed and the smell was so alluring. It was a sweet citrus, but only so faint like the breeze. It called to me and I knew then I had to have been dreaming. And with that everything went dark. I realized I snapped back to reality, and I opened my eyes to see what this world had for me.

-------------------------------------

It took me a few seconds to stop blinking as much but when I did, I noticed the room I was in. It was a whitish yellow, and it had a little window to it. The window was covered with a yellow cover, faintly diming the light. I felt underneath me a bed, with crinkled sheets and a hard pillow. I looked over at the beeping thing, it was my pulse. I saw the little room divider sheet behind the beeper. I was in a hospital.

And then I heard someone walk in, and they were walking towards my area. I pretended to be asleep.

“Ma’am, is she going to be alright?” I heard a girl say.

“Sweety she will be just fine, she just needs some sleep.” Obviously the nurse, was speaking.

“Are you sure.”

“Yes.”

And with that I heard the steps leave and the door shut. With that I reopened my eyes. I had to get out of here, and fast. I jumped up and threw the needles off of my skin. I jumped off the bed and grabbed my four bags. And then I felt a breeze. I was wearing one of those stupid apron things. I threw it off me, and got changed faster then ever. I ran through the doors, and found a nearby staircase. I started darting through them until I realized something was missing. Someone was missing. I ran back through the doors I just ran out of, and started searching. Then my mind came to the conclusion of where she had to be. She was young.

“The nursery.” I whispered and took off in the direction of the room.
