Worry None.

Worry None.

A Chapter by Stephanie Jones

Next thing I knew I was standing up. And still having my mouth covered over. But I wasn’t just alone with this person. Others popped out from the bushes, and were slowly gathering around me. Then I stopped squealing, and he let go of my mouth. But I was afraid, I was petrified. I was surrounded by five men that obviously wanted me.

I felt their touches. They touched my legs, my arms, my face, my private parts. And I couldn’t scream. I was dry throated. I was afraid. And then something happened. I was no longer fearful. I was brave strong, and powerful. I growled. Literally, like I let it rip through me. I growled so loudly they stopped touching me for a second. And then, I heard people coming, and the men scattered, and with that, I saw the people who had been at the bonfire running over, so I scattered as well. I grabbed the bags as fast as I could slumped them over my shoulders grabbed the carriage with Lexi sleeping, and darted.

I finally stopped when I reached an alley way. It was dark, but I went in there anyway. I was practically dead on my feet and found a little cardboard box I could hide under and sleep a little while. It strangely was big enough to fit me Lexi the carriage and the four bags. And all I remember was laying down and closing my eyes.

I don’t remember what happened next. I just simply remember waking up to being in a card board box with Lexi laying awake in her carriage. She was waiting for me to wake up, that little smart baby. As soon as she noticed I was awake she smiled a dazzling smile, which made me wonder how people could have ever hated her.

I pushed up the cardboard box, and stepped out of it. I yawned a little, and then started to do a stretch but my stomach growled. I decided I might as well eat something while I’m here.

So that’s what me and Lexi did, we ate.

By the time we were finished eating, the sun was just rising, and we had survived the night. I got up and took my little sister out of the carriage, and decided we would walk around today. We headed out of the dirty alley way, and stepped into the somewhat filled streets.

I realized after about ten seconds that we were right at a part of a parade route, and I found a little clear area for me and Lexi to sit as we watched the people, and the cars pass by waving hello. What fascinated me was this band heading up our way, and wow they were skilled. I am not a big music fan, but these people could play. Lexi was fascinated too, they wore black and white, and they had on funny hats.

The parade didn’t last very long, but when it was over, I decided we should start moving. Maybe it was the police officers on the other side of the road staring at me and Lexi, and I got up first, Lexi noticed and did the same. I looked at the sign that was stapled to a tree.

MISSING!!!

15 year old girl, blonde hair, 5’1.

2 year old girl, light brown hair.

If found, large reward.

I knew that was us, the sad fact was that they had most of the information wrong, seeing that I had the light brown hair and Lexi’s was blonde. They didn’t even know Lexi’s height for god’s sake.

“Trevor.” And with that I grabbed my little sister the four bags and the carriage and darted.

I knew I had to find a payphone, really anything to call him from. I ran with Lexi to the beachy river, and found a little payphone. I anxiously put the quarters in, and dialed the number.

One ring...

Two rings...

Three rin—“Hello?” I knew that voice from anywhere.
