Far, far, away.A Chapter by Stephanie JonesBut I didn’t fall much asleep. I felt the little drops hitting me, and the slight shifts in movement, and then I was on a bed, somewhat like the one from before, but it felt different. I felt him snuggle up behind me and rap his arms around me, I didn’t dare open my eyes, for I knew sleep would come soon. And it did. It was me and him and Lexi on a train, I was staring out the window looking at the city we were leaving behind. It felt weird but I saw Lexi play with her toys, and Kellan falling asleep. The dream felt so small, maybe fate was letting me visualize things for myself. I invisioned the train stopping and us all getting off, but there wasn’t a sky, fate was being so difficult. I just invisioned us running and running and then it all disappeared. I felt the shaking, I just didn’t understand why I had to wake up. “For Christ sake Jewels, they know were here, come on we have to go.” Those words made me awake so fast. I didn’t even blink as I jumped off the bed and ran to Lexi, who was asleep in her carriage. I grabbed her out of the carriage, and started to run with Kellan. We didn’t need the carriage anymore, it would just slow us down. “Kellan where are we going?” I was out of breath from running and being so tired. I just stopped short. “Your friend told the cops we were there, my father heard it over the intercom, the police were coming.” “Trevor would never do that.” He wouldn’t ever. “He did.” And we started to run again. But we didn’t run to the train station and get onto the train, we got to the airport, and he showed them tickets. We were just in time the plane was on its last call. We got aboard the plane, and got into first class. I sat down Lexi in the little chair she had to sit in but let her sleep. Even I was tired, but Kellan didn’t appear it as much. I curled up into him when they said we could take our seatbelts off and fell asleep, but didn’t dream. Maybe it was the fact that Trevor went against me, and told the cops, maybe it was the fact I was on the run and now endangering the love of my life. Maybe it was the fact that I didn’t know what was going to happen next, maybe it was just me. Maybe everything I did had a reason behind it, and this one didn’t. Maybe fate didn’t want us to run off, or maybe it did. Maybe it was just that town where I could see things. Whatever it was, the dream didn’t come and I was left to stare into darkness. I woke up after a few seconds to think over what had just came across me. Kellan noticed. “Hello sleepyhead.” He smiled. I had to laugh. “How long have I been asleep?” “Only a few hours, we are almost there.” “Almost where?” “We are going to Rhode Island. And then going to stay with a little family of mine for a day or to, and ride into Connecticut.” “Connecticut?” What would we do there? “Isn’t that state like really expensive and stupid?” The look he gave me meant no. “So what, we are just going to travel around in Connecticut?” “No Jewels, My father gave me the keys to a house in one of it’s smaller cities. It’s big, enough, with a backyard, and a river right behind it.” “That sounds amazing.” I couldn’t believe how skilled he was. “It is.” And then we heard and saw the blinking lights and the people over the intercom saying it was time to put on our seatbelts because we’d be landing soon. Kellan handed me a set of earplugs. I decided to put them on the baby, I could handle. And I did really well. When we landed he took my hand, and I held Lexi still asleep in the other. Then we walked out the door, around the bend and to the nearest phone booth. Kellan talked on it for a few seconds and argued a little but then hung up. “What’s wrong?” I so shouldn’t have asked. “Technical difficulty.” But I knew he wasn’t done so I let him rampage on. “The cops, they knew about the flight they are somewhere around here, we aren’t going to stay with them, we have to, to...” “Take a train?” I said. “Yes, wait, why did you know that.” Did he honestly forget that fast. I should explain. “What led me to you?” And with that he understood. “Train it is.” And we headed off in the direction of the train station. +------------------------- We turned the corner and up the main road, and the Train station was in clear sight, and so were the numerous police cars. We weren’t going to get very far. Kellan had an idea. “We will just come out like we are a married couple, with a little girl.” He simply stated as he stuffed his undershirt under my shirt to make me look bigger. “So we are just going to walk by them.” “Exactly, don’t you see Juliet, it is something they would never expect.” And I had to trust him on that. No way would the police think we’d walk right up to them. “Okay.” And as I did before I jumped off the cliff I grasped his hand tightly, with Lexi sleeping in my other arm. We simply just walked through the police officers, no questions asked. I mean, jeez, either they weren’t paid enough to care, or were really stupid, either way we got into the train station with little trouble. We grabbed the fastest tickets to Connecticut, which by surprise was in half an hour. Kellan went to get some food and left me alone with Lexi who had just woken up. “Hello Lexi.” She stared into my eyes before looking around for Kellan. “Kellan went to get some food, he will be right back.” Wow, they were right about me knowing what she meant before said. “Juw-e-et, where we go-en?” She was so adorable. “Connecticut, and nobody is going to bother us anymore.” Atleast I had to hope that would be true. “Is Kellan gonna be with us?” “Yes, he will.” “Do you like him?” Did she honestly just ask that? “I like him a real lot, and he likes me too. And we are going to take care of you.” I thought she was going to cry when I didn’t mention her first. “Oh the little beauties awake before we have to go.” Kellan returned carrying two bags of potato chips, a candy bar, and three water bottles. “Before we have to go?” I looked up at the clock to see that there was just around a minute before our train was to be called. “Let’s go then, I’d much rather not have to worry.” He took my hand and led me to the ticket man, who gave us both a funny look when he saw Lexi but merely waved us on and into the train. We grabbed a little open booth, just big enough for us three and sat down. Kellan looked as if he was a walking dead man. The thought frightened me. “Kellan, you should go to sleep, I will wake you when we are almost there.” “Why I’m not even tired.” And with what he sayed he yawned. “You stink at lying.” I smirked. “Glad to know I smell. And I guess I do need sleep.” With that he relaxed himself and within a minute he was out. The train started to pull away and my first instinct was to look out the window. I saw the police officers still holding us back from the train, even though we were already on. That’s so silly, but true, on how idiotic people are. I looked back to watch as Lexi played with a little teddy bear, and Kellan my beautiful friend asleep. I decided to just eat some chips and the trip would be over soon. But I had a while, and I let my mind slip to remember. My trip started off with me and my little sister running away from our home in Eureka, Nevada on a train to Selma, Alabama. After a few run-throughs we finally let fate do the works of leading us around. Now it took us from Kellans reservation in Alabama, to the tip of Rhode Island, and now to Connecticut. It was only, what a week or two ago that I’d ran away, and lived my life. I watched as Kellan tousled his hair in his sleep. He was so magnificent, but then the train lady came in to tell us the train would be coming to a stop shortly. I woke Kellan up, just as I promised. “Come on, it’s time.” “It’s time for what?”I looked at him confused, she said we had a few more minutes. “We have got to plan to be in the center of the rush out of here. It will be our safest bet.” I guess that made sense. Finally the train came to a halt, and we jumped off the train with a bunch of other people. He was right, there was two police cars searching. How did they know this, where we were all the time? “Now Jewels, run!” I didn’t understand I just felt the crowd moving, as I saw the police officers obviously after me. I just ran, out of the train station and into the main road, and onto some side roads, and down an entire beach, and by the time I rested it was from carrying Lexi that far, running. Just like my dream, running and running until everything disappeared. “Juliet?” I knew that voice from anywhere. “Kellan.” I turned to see him right behind me. “Jeez, I didn’t know where you went. Don’t scare me like that, you could have atleast tried to follow me.” “Follow you, by the time you said run, I couldn’t see you.” Tears started dropping down my face. He pulled me in close to him. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. Well, okay I did to an extent. You scared me, I need you with me. It hurts when you aren’t. I’m just so-“ “Don’t be, we are together now.” I finally looked down to see Lexi hugging Kellan. He took her from my arms. “You ran pretty far though, if I do say so myself.” “What do you mean?” I ran far? “I mean you are on the town’s beach, of the one we have a house in.” He pointed and I looked as he watched the waters ripple and smash against each other, before fading away. “Really?” “Mmhmm...it’s more towards the other side of town though.” And with that he took my hand and walked with my down the long stroll of the beach with Lexi now in his arms. He took the corner at the edge of the beach and followed the main road through the center then to a big army range place, and then past a little gas station and store before turning down a side road next to the little store. I stayed quite the entire time, taking in the scenery. The place was very beautiful, and I didn’t want to waste a second of it. We passed by numerous houses and then before we turned upon a secondary road, he whispered to me. “Close your eyes.” I did as told and he glided me down the road, but it wasn’t a long walk. “You can open them now.” Was all he had to say before my eyes flew open and gazed upon the place infront of me. “Welcome...home.” And with that we walked to the front steps, he unlocked the door, and I followed him into the ravishing home.
