Frenching.

Frenching.

A Chapter by Stephanie Jones

We just kept running was all I could remember. Maybe it was the speed or the fact I felt very dizzy. I fell into a sleep.

It was mostly Lexi and me, back into that beautiful house we saw earlier and me rocking her in the chair. I watched her as she fell asleep in my arms, and how Kellan appeared at the door. He walked over to me, and shook me. It was weird, I didn’t know what was wrong. I tried to push him away, and he hugged me. Let go, and took my hand. He said when I was feeling better he would talk to me. When did I finally stop dreaming? How many hours ago?

I blinked as my eyes opened.

The sky was beautiful the sun warm, the sand underneath me somewhat refreshing. I turned my head just slightly to make sure it was Kellan who had my hand. It was. I felt safe, comfortable, should I have really opened my eyes?

“Jewels, you feel better?” He sounded sympathetic.

“Uhm, I guess.” I started to sit up but suddenly got dizzy, everything spun, and I went to put my head back down. “Maybe not.”

“I’d say.” He laughed, I couldn’t I was so confused, but one question popped into my mind.

“Where is Lexi?” I just had to ask.

“She is right there, you would have seen her, but I don’t think you did.” He laughed again. It made me feel better. We just sat there and I let my body feel better, slower this time I sat up. I did feel better, and nothing spun.

“So...” It was all I could say before he went off on his own words.

“I know, I know, I promised you I would explain, and I will.” He stopped short.

“You will?” I liked how he would keep his word.

“Yes, of course, it’s just.” He stuttered on just.

“You promised.” I sounded like a baby weeping.

“And I am keeping to it, I just, I don’t know how to explain.”

“Just start at any point.”

“That isn’t so easy to do.” I don’t understand why it is so hard.

“Well then, if you could describe what you were in one word what would it be.”

“Immortal.”

“Immortal?” I think he was hoping I’d be shocked, but I was curious.

“Yes, immortal. I’m nothing special, I don’t drink blood like vampires, or change into a werewolf, I don’t even have many super powers, I just live forever.” That shocked me, and made me a little furious.

“You are upset because you don’t have any cool powers. Do you know how lucky you are? I would love to be immortal, die for it. Jeez. I thought you were a wolf with all the animal carvings.” Anger faded fast with him.

He laughed, “A wolf? Really?” My face must have given it away because he laughed again. “No, jeez just because I like wolves means I am one?”

“Well, it seemed like a good hint.” I tried to grin.

“You had it completely wrong.” He nodded my head smiling, but holding back giggles.

“Well, it’s just in the movies, the wolves run fast like you, and—“

“And what first came to mind was, wolf.” I nodded.

“Juliet, you let your imagination get the best of you.”

“Kellan, you are immortal, that’s huge. Unfair.” I frowned.

“Unfair?” Was he actually trying to question why I was upset.

“Uhm yes, now I am going to grow old and die, and I will be like 50 and look like your mom.”

“I would never let that happen.” He was very serious.

“What do you mean never let it happen.” I was curious.

“I was planning on making you immortal to.” I looked into his eyes, so beautiful, perfect.

I looked away, “how?” I had to ask.

“It is really easy to do, my changer said it took a few seconds.” Only a few seconds and I’d be like him.

“What did you have to do?”

“Kiss the other.”

“Yes, I know. Simple.” Does Kellan honestly want me to believe he’d have to just kiss me.

“Kellan, I have kissed you before.”

“Jewels, we just kissed, you have to French it.”

“Yes, but people French kiss all the time.”

“Not with an immortal.” He smiled.

“Will it hurt.”

“Yes.” I gasped.

“How badly.” I needed to know.

“Enough to make your heart stop.” He didn’t have a pulse?

“So, you don’t have a heart?”

“Yes, it’s there, it just doesn’t get used.”

“Wait, so there are like vampires and stuff.” Silly question.

“Yes, and they are all like me, but I am unnamed. My kind, we don’t have a name, we are just immortal.” He smiled somewhat bored by my questions.

“When will we do it?”

“Tonight.” I looked down at Lexi, and she was staring at us. She knew everything that was happening, but we couldn’t explain it. How could we tell her why she couldn’t change.

Without a further a do I layed down on Kellan who was sitting up with his legs in front of him. I slung my legs over his and curled up into his chest.

“Tonight.” And he held me in close.
