Why is God Love, Jack?

They said you went into the hospital 
and never came back from the 
white hallways and sterile rooms 
of St. Anthony's hospital almost
forty years gone now.
Jack, why is God love?
you never came back. 
Jack, why is God love?
The machinery pumped
life into your body then
failing from drink and loneliness
Jack, Why is God love?
Your stomach bled from
within your belly and 
you never came back, 
Jack, Why is God love? 
Neal died a year before you did Jack. 
Your superman collapsed 
on the railroad track in Mexico
in a flight of frenzy like
in New York and in Paterson with Neal
stealing cars and running 
and running and never stopping
never stopping but his heart did
stop. Jack, why is God love?
