Sphalerite

Sphalerite

A Poem by streetrose

She walks through life with a smile

Linen and lace cover the scars

Music dilutes the screaming

Make-believe drowns out reality

Soft footsteps and slamming doors

Large ears and muffled voices

Plastic smiles, ageless aging

Insomnia and eternal slumber

She walks through life with a smile

But one night the smile breaks

Battered body from fiery temper

And not one breath she takes
