the things we hide

I fell for you, so hard. I'd look in your eyes, trying to see if I could see what you were really thinking. Your eyes never met my own; you were my everything and I was just your sometimes. I'd pull my heart out of my chest just to prove to you that you're the reason why it continues to beat. We're both so fragile but we don't want the other to know so we hide behind those insults, the wandering eyes but thrive on the hugging, the kissing, hands lingering for a little longer than they should. Those innocent, fleeting moments of skin on skin, keep me going; even on my hardest days.
