Once in a Blue Moon

Once in a Blue Moon

A Poem by Subhadeep Banerjee

Dark clouds clear away...
As this sweet haze of Novocaine
Lifts, fading into the skies of pain;
The numbing vision of a blue full moon.

I don't think- I only hurt more;
I don't breathe- my lungs can't hold this sigh-
I don't feel- I'm consumed by this blue;
I don't love- I can't bear this pain...

Bathed in this uncanny blue glow,
I look up, and let tears flow insane;
I raise my arms, clench my fists
...And scream out into the silence,
Where I know you're still there-
And you wait for life to set you free;
Unnoticed, remains the love in my eyes-
No matter how far, or near.

I cut myself open,
And I bleed-
I keep pouring this blue...
Painless, this love keeps drifting
Away from me again...
My weak heart-throb quickens in vain.

A blue sigh escapes into the night...
