Atheist's Prayer

Atheist's Prayer

A Poem by Subhadeep Banerjee

Grant me my escape,
My imaginary God-
I've suffered long enough,
Grant me my salvation.
Your playground holds no pleasure for me:
My senses have long given up...
Yet I kept fighting
For things that never existed!
But this is where I draw my line;
This is where my path ends.
Fighting against instinct and desire,
In always a losing battle-
How long could I hold my end?
This resistance, sometime, had to break!
This flame, sometime, had to fade!
It's my life, I lay it at your feet...
Take it and grant me my escape,
My imaginary God.
