These miles

These miles

A Poem by Carissa D

In this coldness and wind,

a crease of moon ahead and I’m

here, in this

back dark ally.

I’m thinking of you-

and of us.

Thousand miles apart,

something new to this-

this seriousness and this sudden change.

The moon again, a splinter-

consuming me.

And just yesterday I called you-

hoping you would say the things

to reel me back to you.

And it’s only forgotten moments-

where I felt right.
