misfire

A Poem by Hermione

This bout of
artificial
happiness will be
put to the test
once I decide to
make a mess
of thinking straight and
breaking even
They fit me with
a new set
of eyes
which are
dull and
not cynical enough
to make the grade.
I simply cannot
abstain from an addiction
when they are
bribing me
with a prescription
for a little bit
of
stability.
