That Look

That Look

A Poem by stars are far

That look that I once hid was what killed me

When you walked away and didn’t look back

I smiled at first, turned my face and cried so bad,

Unlucky me was in that day, when I lost what I had.

That look that I kept in secret took away my joy

It made me fifty years older and stole my toy,

It didn’t realize that I was still so young to be hurt

But you were so dumb and you went for it.

That look that I once drew in my book was a secret

It was the mystery of every tear I shed

And it was the true feeling that I once had

Yet, you never cared, so let’s rip that, too.

Ah, such a touching and intimate moment where the glass of our perceived invincibility seems to shatter and leave us in shock and awe because we expected it to last. You capture the exemplified sense of loss so perfectly and the ensuing, sudden urge to destroy that portion of your past. Well done, I know this feeling well.
