Don't Want Love

Lonely? Why not just give up?

I want to be happy again

Just like I used to be

Before this thing called love

When I was young and free.

 

I don't want arms around me

Or kisses on my face

I don't want to belong

So I'm making my case.

 

Love is a sham, so I've learned

Chains that bind the heart

Are as bad as any shackles

And I want no part.

 

I don't want my 'dream come true'

No danger of hurt with dreams

So leave my heart empty and hollow

Loneliness is best, it seems.

Just to clarify - this was a very confused time for me, I wanted real love so badly, but all I got were boys who wanted to get laid. Later in my life, just a few years later, I found my true soul mate, the one I wrote "Perhaps" for, and we've been happily married for over 5 years. It's not always perfect, but usually it is, and it's WAY better than before I knew him!

this is very different from any thin i have read before
i have always known love to be something that will change your life
you will feel everything ..see everything in a different light
you will love everyone and everything once you have known love
you would love all the people around you just by falling in love
yes ..you will lose so many good night sleep
always heartaches and worries..mind always busy
its like getting in a net and trapped and sticky..but they say
the feeling is so nice..the heart is so light ..the feelings is so strange
love is every a wonderful lovely thing
thats why i am really surprised at this writing
you dont want chains tat bind your heart
as bad as any shackles..and you do not want no part
you must have strong reasons for that

i really loved this idea behind the poem that says "i hate love".....and its a very obvious feeling after you have seen the dark side of love which is very miserable and ruins watever you are and watever you have! :) thanks for this write.......ppl say love sets you free but its nice to read the other side of the story that says love binds you in shackles!! gr8 job girl!
