Pardon Me

Another one I wrote at work; disturbed by my boss's lack of empathy.

Pardon me if I ask

     Do you care?

 

Do you care if I share

          If I hurt

If I'm weak

     If I seek

To find

          A different place

In my mind

     Do you care?

That I'm hurt

          By your insecure words and accusations

That you blurt and shout out upon me

I love the shape of this poem, it seems to reflect the attitude and what I imagine the inflexions of the speaker to be. The irony of the politeness at the beginning contrasts beautifully with the final line conveying (your boss's?) harsh words and lack of compassion, inability to care. By the by, sometimes when people speak to me I find myself asking a similar question : ) Great job. A pleasure to read and review.

Yes so very true.... I try to not take things so personal it's just a bit difficult to determine whether I'm being overly sensitive or their just being a plain butt head :/
