"Found" Poem - The Night Listener pg.4 Originally written 10/28/2012

The self-doubt, panic, anger

exploded across the rubble.

I knew I wanted to be alone.

to die, and realize

it was over.

Then the lips I’d never trusted

followed me around the decade.

All those bullet-boys

All those guys in their dyed jeans

still there, still out for love.

And the names, of course,

would surface in my wake

like a dozen visitors

standing in a rapidly shrinking hole

my own heart-shaped envelope.
