Assignment for Team Renfield. Prompt: So let's have our own competition - for the best opening line in an imaginary novel.

Exhaling tightly held breath, a gasp exploded from her lips becoming a ear shattering scream as his body fell from the heavens.  With the force of a comet he approached the earth, hugging the ground before extending massive wings and wheeling skyward once again.

Although this was for a imaginary story, is it a good enough start to make you want to read more?
