A Breath in Four Parts

A Breath in Four Parts

A Poem by syndeton

1.

Silent dancers

are free to dance

2.

Autumn leaves, in swaying, paint

the sky in broad, auroral brushstrokes,

beckon dawn, from her rest to dance

through silent red

and amber clouds.

3.

Ripples in a crowd

reflect and intercept each other;

grass, thin and elegant,

sways gently

to caress the sky.

4.

A burning ancient dances

in its solemn fellows’ midst;

bark is slowly blackened

by combustion’s tender kiss.
