Respiration

Respiration

A Poem by Tasteless Heart

Breathe in all that's so abhorrent
To the life I lived before
Exhale all my troubled torment
All these signs I can't ignore

Helpless now, I'm suffocating
There's no air, I cannot breathe
Breaking down, asphyxiating
Choking on the love I need

Cling to life, I gasp and stutter
Struggling for some kind of peace
Fell behind, left in the gutter
I tread on with cough and wheeze

Helpless now, my heart is failing
Breathlessness won't go away
Falling down, my life is fading
Respiration's gone to waste.
