A Story by terry smith

my mind just went there so I went along for the ride....

The choirnivferous donculus dung
who's job it was was to sing and bring up the sun
without which the sky would be gray
lived only for a day
and
would die after her song it was sung
but if you put her shell to your ear
her beautiful song you will hear
and your sadness will all go away.

like the mayfly, whose sole purpose is to give life(living for only a single day) your character lives to bring joy through song...what a wonderful gift to have such a purpose in life...it's interesting that what we hear when we place our ear to a shell (like a conch) is just the ambient noise around us and that the same effect can be caused by an empty cup...love it, my friend!

hahahaha....hope it wasn't hot coffee :)
This is short and sweet, the imagery solid. Her name left me guessing on pronunciation, but the rhyming was sound and story clear. The only question I have is that if the Choirnivferous Donculus Dung's job is to sing the sun up and die at the end of the day, why would listening to a shell let you hear her? It's an odd choice since shells are associated with the ocean. Please don't misunderstand I adore this poem exactly the way it is, but the second stanza caused just a bit of confusion. Of course, it's never expressly said whether she is in fact the ocean or something entirely different, so the point may be mute.
