A Poem by terry smith

Your words are like
my lullaby
if my lullaby was Sophie B. Hawkins

wish I was....

They fill me
 with
warmth
of hot soup
 on a cold day
or coffee
 in the middle
 of a writing spree

your words
 are like
chinese
 fireworks
that rain
 paper
 lanterns
filled
 with
musical
 notes
that
only
 you
could write

Like the
 feeling of someone
coming up
behind you
and filling
you with
their
warm embrace

Like season three
when
 they
finally

 kiss

and their
lips
are
 the
only
thing
that
matters

Like those old
tattered jeans
you would put on
 for modesty's sake
as we would do the crossword in bed
on a rainy sunday morning

that;s what your words are like to me.

I truly remember that song by Sophie B. Hawkins...I was working at a record store when it came out!! Damn!!

Coming after a day of losing two friends, this truly replenishes my soul...from the hot soup, to the chinese fireworks and the paper lantrens. Last but not least, I adored the crossword in bed on a rainy sunday morning!

What a lovely piece. I am truly flattered...thank you, Terry!

You are most welcome, my friend!! :D I lost them too and wrote about it...got it out of my system.
Awesome. Lay it all out there. I like the serious yet irreverent tone you maintain throughout. And I do hooe she likes it!

Not a doubt
'your words are like chinese fireworks that rain paper lanterns filled with musical notes, that only you could write', this line is beautiful, 'and their lips are the only thing that matters', simple but it shines out of the dark and reveals some good loving, thank you for sharing :)

Written for a poet friend of mine that raises the temperature of my blood with her words.:)
Catchy piece, different, love the flow. I remember Sophie B. Hawkins. I have one of her old c.d. somewhere :)
