Message to youA Poem by terry smith
I picked up the phone
to call you set it down again and went back to bed I hit the road guitar case in hand the only suitcase I need to travel foreign land I pick up a postcard to send to you then I tear it up again leaving the words in my head you were the light in my sky the night in my lie the jam I would spread the name I would dread you somehow could whisper my name tearing down all my walls I have no one to blame I start a letter and my pen runs dry as I wipe a tear from my eye I know it's all for the better no postage to send our story comes to an end you were the light in my eye the nights we would lie the love that we spread now forever dead you somehow could give me a glance and I would forget 'cept for the romance you were the love of my life and now I must go on with my strife
