I am the Bonsai Tree

I am the Bonsai Tree

A Poem by terry smith

I am the bonsai tree
struggling
to reach
the
light
and
grow
my flowers
smell
like
sadness
and my
fruit
tastes
like
pain
and
if you
tap
my
trunk
and
make a
syrup
and
put it
on
your
pancakes
you will
 taste
the blood
in
my
veins
a
bittersweet
melancholy
liquid
perfect
for a
lonely
cold
rainy
day.

-- heartbreaking poetry... -- i do have trouble with the concept of a bonsai... -- the roots of trees are trimmed to turn them into miniature versions of what they could've been... -- i try and see them as art but ultimately i think it's not fair...

I agree they are beautiful but it is sad.
