My Speech Team 2012 Competition Piece #2

The Unexpected

- When you first hear it

 

 

Monday you text one of your good friends,

Monday night you press send,

Okay, goodnight Steph,

Tuesday morning you’re at band.

One person is sad and

- Says they know something horrible.

You get her to talk,

She says the girl you just said goodbye to

- Through a text,

Just last night is dead.

You don’t believe her,

And push it off,

- Like it is just another rumor,

After band class

- The principle comes on the intercom.

Students

I’m sorry to say this

But one of our students was killed last night

- In a one-car accident.

The realness of the world fades

And the pain is all you feel.
