I Couldn't save you

An Excerpt from a Novel I am in the mid Publishing stage of. It is a Poem written by my Character Rey Martinez to his late wife and daughter.

I'm never gonna dance again

the way I danced with you

I'll never be a whole again

without my better two

 

Pity and a bottle binge

replaced the love I had

careless words that I said

turned a good thing bad

 

I'll never see a swing again

without my little girl

I'm never gonna  smile again

without my little pearl

 

I'm never gonna drink again

with a smile upon my face

I'll never see my reflection

without a monster in place

 

I should have known better

then to drink again

Should have known  that night

would be the end

 

 

I was not a father figure

I did not lead you far

I was not a husband figure

made a coffin with our car

 

I'm never gonna dream again

until the day that I join you

I'm never gonna have peace

until my death is true

 

If I had one more day

with you to see

I Couldn't save you

from me...
