On National Coffee Day 2015

Did you happen to know, by the way,

That it's National Coffee Day?

Would you stand in a queue for

Your favorite brew or

Espresso or café au lait?

 

Are you strung out on caffeine?

Do you find decaf obscene?

Have you barely survived

When you've been deprived

Of your coffee? Admit it! Come clean!

 

As much as we try to expound

That the merits of coffee abound,

It still makes us nervous

When people serve us

Instant and not freshly ground.

 

I admit I'm a coffee fanatic.

But let me not be too dogmatic.

Though sometimes it's true

That tea time will do,

It's coffee that makes me ecstatic.

 

How different our world would be

Without the dear coffee tree!

We'd be in a bind,

For then we would find

We'd ALL be stuck drinking tea!
