Scary Resemblance

Scary Resemblance

A Poem by Bob B

His goal: to make his nation powerful.

The result: the creation of heaps of sorrow.

Appealing to hate--not to hope--

He spoke of creating a better tomorrow.

To keep control of his people and country,

He knew he'd have to keep a tight grip.

Law and order for him equaled

Authoritarian leadership.

Endorsed by white supremacists,

He attempted to cultivate

Suspicion aimed at "outsiders"

In order to make his country great.

"Outsiders" were blamed for problems.

Out of fear they were forced to take heed.

The man proposed singling out millions

Of people--for many, based on their creed.

Pompous and arrogant, he said that he

Alone could cure the country's ills.

Gazing at crowds of cheering fans

Was one way he got his thrills.

A narcissistic personality

Clearly describes the man to a T.

Fixated on power and greatness,

He spoke in scary hyperbole.

Who is this man we're talking about?

Hitler? Ahh. What gave it away?

Yes, it's Hitler from long ago,

But doesn't it sound like Trump today?
