A Poem by Bob B

Once again, millions of us

Took to the streets, undeterred

By threats and intimidation from Trump

Who didn't want our voices heard.

Violent insurrectionists

And thugs and terrorists in the extreme--

That's what we are to Donald Trump

And to his fawning admin team.

According to them, we are Marxists

Who hate the country. It's a game

That they are playing to dupe the people,

And it is a real shame.

We weren't invading the Capitol,

Attacking cops and storming the halls,

Yelling threats and racist slogans,

And defecating on the walls.

We protested peacefully.

It's NOT the country that we hate--

We hate the growing autocracy

That Trump and his sycophants celebrate.

We want to preserve the rule of law

And keep the freedoms to which we cling.

We want checks and balances

And NOT to be run by an insecure king.

Trump dislikes it when we say

We're anti-fascist. I wonder why.

Could it be because it hits

Too close to home? My, oh, my!

I was proud of my USA Bob. I was a soldier for 15 years. I stand for freedom of speech and the Constitution. I enjoyed and I agree with you. Powerful and worthwhile words and thoughts.
