The First Black Day

The First Black Day

A Poem by Tess Melendez

It's painful to accept,
But, we all must have black days,
Because, there are times when the Sun simply is too weak to shine.

That's when the Moon comes up in his place.
But, even the moon isn't without bad times.
That's when the black day arises.
Depthlessly, doubtlessly, dreadfully black.

And we wonder when one of our rulers will return.
Will they return?
No answers lie in the abyss of the black days.
And that's where the despair began.

Day 12 of my May poetry prompts. Topic: Black Day. Another one where I didn't really know what to write about. But here it is, see what you can puzzle out.

Hey, at least you wrote something instead of nothing, right? Whether or not you know what the topic of the poem may be. I always hate writing a poem and not having any type of theme or story behind it...it needs to go in the proper direction before I write it all out. We all have our "black days", but it is only temporary. Lean on those who you trust most to help you through the dark days...
