I heard the song
that plays
             when the hero


                wins,


        when the soldiers
walk home,

                                     battle torn
                                     and bruised.


And in the end
                         they will only be kept awake
 

 

                by the applause.

What a beautiful tribute to our troops- filled with the sadness, but also the glory of their homecoming. Lovely. Though I live in Kansas, and am not sure why this piece was thusly titled? Curious.
