Mammoth

A Poem by Anthony

awoken,
im attracted to the
pornography of the images
wrestling in my skull.

i follow the standard pattern
in the pavement with each step.

however, i see nothing but a january coma(
soundless and bodiless)
a few scrubby trees make up the horizon
with a thick black venom
where god sleeps as drunks
will tell you when stopped by staties.

ghosts hang around everything even
my breath and
the back end of a lone caddy passing by.
the driver gives me a nod
as if we had a connection
or we were in a surviving place.
